It really annoys me when I download something, and safari always asks me to confirm if I want to download the file.

Why did apple do that? This is a step towards Microsoft's behaviour.

It is completely useless, and does not offer anything in terms of security.

sure it does. if someone is paying attention they can look at the file that is being possibly downloaded. think of it this way. there was a bug with DMG's being downloaded that would automatically be opened when downloaded and the code could be executed. bad news. this is just one step in making sure people know what they're downloading.

i think you're just complaining. lol. so hit the dang enter button and it downloads. certainly isn't that big of a deal.
