Son of a... Sponsorship Fee?

Went to sign up my premier account for the 1st time and now they are charging a Sponsorship Fee of $36? WTF so not only do i have the $18 upgrade fee there is a $36 Sponsorship Fee, just to get the FAN discount...
arg! Sorry to bitch.... but man.
