Songs at different volume levels?

Perhaps it's just me, but I think some songs on my iPhone are consistently playing at different volume levels (w/o making a manual adustment in the volume).

Two examples: 1. On the Gladiator soundtrack (from a CD), track 2 is much louder than track 3.
2. On the DAUGHTRY album (downloaded from iTunes), track 3 is much louder than track 2 or 4.

Is this normal? Can I fix it?

Check under settings, I think there is a setting for equalizer that maintains a consistent volume level.

Changing the "Sound Check" setting to "Off" seems to have solved the volume difference. Thanks a bunch.
