iPad Songs greyed out on iPad

Not using iTunes Match and have tried deleting music from iPad and resyncing but only ~10% of my 3000 songs are able to be played. What should I check?

When something weird happens, I tell itunes not to sync any music and see what's left on there. Then i delete them manually from the ipad.

Greyed out songs are due to an incomplete sync. Trying plugging your device back into the computer you sync your music with.
