Hello wts, did you manage to get a copy of the PCI X Installer software? I'm currently scouring the internet but can't find it anywhere. I've messaged Sonnet support and they say it's no longer available.

Thank you. I've just upgraded a PowerMac 9600 with a Sonnet Crescendo 400/G4 and I can't find the software to install OS X anywhere. It's currently running very well with OS 9.2.2 but I really want to push the machine to OS X and XpostFacto just won't work for me for some reason.

Obviously late to the game here but I too I'm looking for a copy of PCI X Installer and TuneUp. If anyone has a copy of them, I would be most appreciative if it could be shared. Thanks.

Hey reddrag0n,

Thanks so much for digging up. I DL'd both files. Couple of questions if you can remember:
1. The literature says this for PCI X Installer:
If you already have the PCI X Installer, but have not yet installed Mac OS X on your PCI Power Mac, use this software to update to v1.2.6. Requires that the original Sonnet software (PCI X Install, Crescendo/PCI X Install, or MAXpowr PCI X Install) be present on your hard drive, and Mac OS 9.1 is installed.

Is the updater a stand alone product or does it require original PCI X Installer to work? What's interesting is the original install and updater both have same version number which is confusing.

2. I want to run this on 10.4.11 which I already have running through Xpostfacto. Do you know if this will work on 10.4.11? The literature states it works with OS 10 thru 10.2 so that's why I ask. The other reason for doing this is that I have been unable to enable my L2 cache which makes 10.4.11 run a bit sluggish. I've read where this PCI X Installer fixes that and makes the OS run faster.

FYI,
I finally got around to installing the PCI X installer update and it didn't work. When I tried to install it, it looked for the original 1.2.6 file. It never found it and then it just quit. Tried it twice, same results.
