Sonoma last for 2018 MacBook Air.

I got the deal of a lifetime or so I thought, and it likely still is. I saw on our ham radio clubs groups.io email blast that a member was giving away his 2018 MacBook Air, 16gb of ram and 512 ssd for free. Went and picked it up from him last Saturday. The Mac I still have and is sitting at home trying to force a Tahoe upgrade with the current oclp patch which likely won't work.... is a 2015 MacBook Pro 3.1 16gb ram and 512 ssd that definitely needs a battery and was running sequoia via oclp. The 2018 MacBook Air I got has all day battery life, runs Sonoma very nicely but after getting it.... found out it is likely gonna be stuck on Sonoma due to the T2 chip unless OCLP can figure out a patch for it.

Was talking to a friend who works in IT and he said why be in a rush to upgrade to either sequoia or Tahoe on it, Sonoma is a very good macOS, and now being matured it is extremely stable and being a Mac along with the T2 chip very secure and will still be very functional for several years yet, and personally I do not see the need to upgrade further with it as it could take performance and battery hits, and personally I am not very impressed with either sequoia or Tahoe, and still using my 2020 m1 air with Sonoma.

Question is does he have actual valid points, or does he just not like the latest and greatest from Apple?
 
I think he is one who is concerned that with the Iran issues going on we need to be using as secure of systems as possible and not patched systems especially being part of the LGBT community, like any iran or china operative could ever harm anyone.
