I listened to my wife complain all day yesterday about Sonos speakers dropping out while she tried to play Xmas music. I'd love to upgrade my TV audio but not a chance with this stuff.

It seems to me that since the past year there is always some sort of promotion. I believe that buying any Sonos without the 25 % price cut is ridiculous.

Sonos has been rock solid for me the past several months. Music plays almost all day with instrumental and love it.

While I don’t need anything I have been thinking about maybe something outdoors for the deck.

FWIW, I got rid of 5 Homepods and a Polk Soundbar in July and replaced with Sonos. Currently my main TV setup has the Arc Ultra with the Sub 4 and a pair of Era 300s for surrounds. I have a pair of 100s and a Sub Mini in my office and a single 300 in the master bedroom. I use them literally every day and, if I recall correctly, I've only had to unplug/reboot the Arc Ultra once to reset it. The only Sonos device I was not impressed with was the Ace headphones. I sold those and replaced with Bowers & Wilkins PX8 S2s (which are excellent). I know Sonos took a big hit over their app, but it's decent enough now and the sound quality is top notch.

Haven't bought in a few years and when I did, I saved 50%... they are local and would drop into my friends restaurant, they would allow him to buy at 50% off for the holidays. I bought a fair amount and filled the house.

Just bought a pair of Era 100s. They are so good. But I would only buy at this time of year when they are on sale. Their stuff is so expensive.

The older stuff had consistent reliability issues with networking. I invested thousands across my house but won't be buying any more.

No issues ever with my Sonos Arc Ultra, Sub 4 and rear speakers. But, I only use for watching TV. Love Sonos!

I never had any issues at all until their ill-fated app update. After the update I lost my entire system for about 6 months while they worked out their bugs. It literally wouldn't play anything, and no amount of troubleshooting helped.

Now it's mostly working again, but AirPlay 2 from wired Macs never came back. It works to other AirPlay 2 devices, it's only the Sonos that has the issue.

You say hard pass…but were the very first person to click on an article about something you claim not to like lol

I read all MacRumors stories... total coincidence I was the first to get to this one. That said, I'm genuinely interested in Sonos and what they can do to pull their brand back. Doesn't mean I'll buy anything from them again.

Interesting problem... Two of my three Sonos groups are running Airplay 2 wirelessly from either my iPhone, Apple TV or MBP, but in my office, my Mac Studio is hooked up to my TP-Link Deco satellite router via Ethernet and it's running fine (2 Era 100s and a Sub Mini). I've had issues with Airplay 2 occasionally connecting to my Studio Display speakers instead of to the Airplay speakers, but this is an Apple problem, not Sonos. I had it with the same frequency for years when I was using Homepods. My workaround is to uncheck the Sonos speakers in Apple Music, check the Studio, play something, then re-check Sonos and uncheck the Studio. The "repair" works every time, and I say the problem hits maybe once every couple of weeks but, again, it's been a recurring Airplay issue for me, not Sonos.

I’ve really come to enjoy the Sonos ecosystem, even though I was late to the game and only started buying Sonos speakers last year.

Here’s my current setup:

  • Main TV Room: ARC Ultra with Era 300 surrounds and Sub 4
  • Family Room: ARC with Era 300 surrounds and Sub 3
  • Master Bedroom: Beam 2 with Era 100 surrounds
  • Portable: Roam 2
Over the past 18 months since purchasing my first ARC, I haven’t had a single issue with any of the speakers. Most of the time I use them through the TV’s eARC port, but I also stream Apple Music, and everything just works seamlessly. Since I never used the old iOS app, I don’t really know what I missed out on, but so far the experience has been excellent.

Today I purchased the Sonos Ace headphones to add to my mix. I’ve read online reviews ranging from excellent to poor, but I decided to try them myself and see how they perform (AirPods Max where going to be my first choose but there too heavy and I'm annoyed apple didn't update them with the H2 when they became USB-C).

I do agree that there prices are on the expensive side but I wait for a sale or use a 15% discount code that I get via work!
