Sonos S2 app has launched. I'm too scared to download. Has anyone tried it yet?

I'm not scared. I'm going in...

...update went smoothly...all the rooms still showing the playlists/station they previously had...Alexa still works (tested via the Alexa app on iPad)... so far everything works. Looks pretty enough, some icons are clearer, some maybe not, not sure there's much different under the surface.

This is on a network of several Play:1 and Play:3

And they all had firmware updated?

Yep, I had one accidentally powered off when I ran the S2 app, but it picked it up later and updated it too.

The S1 app no longer does anything for me, just directs me to S2. Haven’t updated the Mac and Windows apps yet.

I'm new to Sonos and to sound bars. My Arc is arriving tomorrow. I've downloaded but haven't configured the S2 app. I was going to get a Beam to go along with a 4 yr old 55" Samsung TV but the tv doesn't have HDMI ARC. Since I was upgrading to a 65" TV that does have e ARC I figured I'd go big or go home.

Sweet. How do you like it so far? I placed an order for one but it still hasn’t shipped, noticed they are back ordered now as well.

Mine lands Thrs. also, going to move the Sonos Playbar into the bedroom, UNS where the Beam goes then & upgrading to S2 was no problem.

So far I love it. The sound bar was very easy to set up. Oh, unboxing it I thought I was unboxing an Apple product. Anyway, set up was a snap. I had downloaded the Sonos app a few days ago and set up an account. Once I made all the connections I fired up the app and it walked me through the rest of the set up.

Once complete I watched the first 30 minutes of Mad Max Fury Road. The thing that surprised me most was the bass. I did not have high expectations and was very pleased with how good the bass is. If you know that movie, when they leave the Citadel to go after Furiosa, there is a vehicle with drums and I sat up in the chair shocked how much bass there was. I didn't even have the volume turned up that loud.

I thought the rest of the sound was great. I watched Rogue One and scenes from many action movies to experience the bar's capabilities. I was not disappointed. This morning my wife was playing Animal Crossing New Horizon on the Switch (I know there is an update coming to the Arc to support surround for the Switch and other platforms) but I was able to hear sounds I've never heard on the game before. Again, only using the TV speakers prior to that. I have a Samsung Q70.

Not a sound bar issue but I did notice some movies that are on Disney+ are not in the Dolby Atmos format, but the purchased from Apple version is, like Rogue One.

How do Atmos movies/shows sound on it? Do you think it does a good job with the "3D" effect?

It's amazing, honestly.

There's a glitch between my AppleTV, LG TV, and ARC where non-Atmos content is dropped to 2.0, which is super annoying for content you expect to be 5.1, but you can switch the Apple TV as a workaround.

Honestly, I can differentiate between 5.1 and Atmos content fine.

Sorry, I haven't logged in a bit.

To answer your question, I think it sounds pretty good. There have definitely been some moments where I looked to the other side of the room because there was a sound coming from the sound bar that I didn't realize was part of the movie. I'm very happy with the purchase and would do it again.
