Sony a7R dng files in Mavericks

After googling i can't seem to find out why a7R raw files, after being converted to dng in Lightroom 5, are no longer readable by Mavericks. Either in finder or preview.

I installed camera RAW 5.04. I also installed iPhoto as that had been suggested as a solution.

Canon 6D files, also converted to dng, work fine, as per the screen shot.

Any advice appreciated.

Edit:
(also, sony RX100 raw files are not supported after converted to dng. Something about how lightroom processes ARW files makes them unreadable by OS X?)

Hi,
I have the same problem on X.9.5 and Lightroom 5.5
Sony A7 ARW files converted into DNG won't show in Quicklook and can't be read in Preview.
Any help appreciated

PS:
previewing and opening ARW files takes a few seconds in finder, anyone knows how to improve that ?
