Sony Bravia ad

That is a brilliant advert! Almost as good as the one for the Honda Accord that was circulating a while back, that one was pure genius in my opinion.

You mean the one in post #17, above? ;)

Sony Bravia ad

that was a good one! every so often a worthwhile commercial comes out.

(the honda one was extremely impressive too, i hadn't seen that in a while)

Can't see the advert using either Safari or Firefox. Something's screwy with those 2 browsers, I swear.

Sharewaredemon , do you know what is crazy? I was going to post this exact same link, and then I see that you beat me to it....

It's even funnier that I chose yesterday because I've known about this video for two weeks. Don't know why I didn't post it earlier.

no, i think all of those balls are real. jwz posted that on his livejournal a few months back when they were making the commercial - http://jwz.livejournal.com/518196.html

The making-of video is awesome. They used nets and huge ball-launching machines and just tubs and tubs full of bouncy balls. And rakes and stuff to get all the balls. Plus the kids nearby got some too, lol.

They did use real balls for at least some of it, but clayj was saying that possibly some of the shots were not real, but in fact CGI.

wait that really had no CG in it??.

Some. ;) though not where you'd expect.

Some tidying, some enlarging. But the actual movement is real.

Concept is ripped though from 'Der Lauf Der Dinge' though, which diminishes it IMHO, though it's still quite an achievement.

Not bad - I particularily liked the slalom sequences.

Of course, I am somewhat biased - I drive a Saab 9000 turbo (bit newer than those in the ad though).

Those are 88s, my mom had a '93 I think.

This nissan Z commercial is also very cool.

As a side note, it's nice how companies are adopting H.264 and AAC for their videos. Makes it much nicer for us to view, and for them to host file size wise. Commercials like these are why I want to go into advertising.

That's such a good ad.

Thanks for posting...

Cool! I like it, there was no CG in this video? That's hard to believe. It looks very cool anyways. The music gives it a nice touch too.

i didn't see anyone mention, but if you click on behind the scenes on the Bravia site you can cleary see that really did drop ton of balls. I wanna think they said something like 250,000.

170 000, the fact that they used real balls doesn't mean that every shot in the ad was real.

I wonder if there is any way to get a high rez picture or frame from that video. I would love to have those bouncy balls as my background on my cinema display.

I wouldn't mind that as well.

Sony's UK site has a selection of wallpapers from the Bravia ad that you can download. There's even an OS X screensaver ;)

If you watch the behind the scenes video, it shows an iMac Raspberry and an iBook at the very end, of course the monitors are Sonys but...

They really did buy 250,000 bouncy balls just for this ad. The raw footage shows the balls just absolutely flying down the hill and you can hear a car alarm in the background too.
