Sony has just finished a live presentation, the gist of which is:

1. In 2018, Sony had the largest share of the full frame camera market.

2. There will be firmware upgrades for Alpha 9 starting in March that will significantly improve autofocus/tracking, and eye focus will now work with animals;

3. A new ASP-C camera called the Alpha 6400 will be released in February that uses the Alpha 9 processor and that will include many Alpha 9 features as well as an intervalometer. Price for the body will be US$900.

The live announcement is below. You can skip the opening presenter. The substantive presenters are the Sony Japan and Sony America gentlemen who follow:

So is this what the rumored a7000 turned out to be or is that still coming?

The a7iii is supposed to get animal focus as well.

As will the A7RIII. That will make that body a serious jack of all trades for both still-life and for action.

Makes you want to run out and purchase a Canon R or a Nikon Z. ;)
