Just wanted to confirm for the forum.... I returned the panasonic hdc-sd9 for a sony hdr-cx7.

I took a few minutes of video and took 3 pix with the sony hdr-cx7.

As soon as I placed the handycam hdr-cx7 on the docking station, connected the usb, and set to pc mode... i opened imovie and iphoto popped open on its own.

I was able to import into both iphoto and imovie with no issue.

    The fun begins....

thanks for posting this. i just bought a cx7. how are you planning to save and export your projects? I don't have a Blu-Ray burner - is there some way to export the HD movie onto a DVD? theoretically reducing the image quality - but possible?

At the moment, the only programs I have come across that can do this on the Mac are Toast 9 and Adobe Encore. Encore is a lot more expensive though and part of Adobe Premiere.

It is possible to burn HD movies onto standard DVD disks, although you are limited to a maximum length of something like 30mins (this is with Toast 9, Encore might give you more freedom in this area). The movies should also be playable on any recent bluray player.

    Toast 9:
