Apple has no more business taking a 30% cut just because the content is on iOS than Microsoft has taking a 30% cut of items I purchase online just because I used a Windows machine to do so. My TV manufacturer Samsung can not demand they get a 30% cut of any pay-per-view movies I order since I did it via the TV I paid for.

This cut comes from software/data* purchased in the iTunes store. Your examples are equivalent to Apple taking a cut if you call a retailer and make a purchase using an iPhone. If Microsoft operates a store, internet or brick and mortar, then they would certainly take a cut of any software or data they sell.

*by data I really mean copyrighted material like music and movies.

Does anyone actually have this working? A friend and I are both getting "Sorry, this service is not available in your country/region". Does it work for anyone else?

Edit: It's working now.

This is another thread for which the negative or positive rating makes no sense.

Do you like it because SONY launched a new service? Do you not like the service new SONY service, but you like that SONY didn't remove music from itunes? And so on.

If the software/data came from the microsoft store. In this case, the software came from the store with the provider paying apple the set fee to place said software on the store. Where as the data is not provided from apples store, yet they are wanting the ability to have a cut when providing nothing, other htan a platofrm which would not be useful without the software to start with.

Wow, that's great news for me because I only listen to Sony Music. Whenever I hear a new song, the first thing I ask is always "Is that artist/band represented by Sony Music?" If the answer is no, the song sucks. If the answer is yes, I go directly to my nearest Sony Store to purchase the CD. Because really, the only important thing about music is the label that publishes it. I couldn't care less about the song's meaning, or the music, or the lyrics. I for one am very happy that Sony is removing the broad freedom of choice that iTunes forces people to accept and is limiting customers to a very narrow range of their own products.
