I agree- scrolling through those buttons looks difficult, but probably nothing can top how hard it is to scroll with the dell dj.
The battery is the 'bump' at the right end of the vaio.

That's a whole hella lot of buttons for someone who just wants an MP3 player, but as I recall that's not all the Viao Pocket's supposed to do.

It's the convergence device thing....so far no device that tries to combine multiple functions into a single gizmo has been able to do better with each single function than the dedicated devices for that function. So either you go for maximum functionality and end up with multiple devices, or you compromise functionality somewhere to get everything into a single device.

Another less mentioned problem with a converged device is that it had better be combining things people will actually want to have at the same time. I can see putting an MP3 player function into a portable game player, for instance, so the gamer can choose his/her own backdrop for the game, but am less impressed by the addition of digital video capability, because who really needs to carry movies with them at all times?
 
Convergence devices do seem to do everything a little less well. The reason iPod is good is because it focuses on one thing- it does it very well.
