I own the WH-1000XM3, lots of great features, but the most underrated advantage to these, they are so light weight, you literally don’t feel like you’re wearing them. And I think that says a lot about over the ear headphones when you look at the surrounding competition.

Yeah, the ability/feature to sync with two devices at the same time was a major omission with Sony’s cans and it’s about time they addressed that. With that being said, I’ll wait for Apple to release their AirPod Studio cans (hopefully in September) before I make a purchase.

I wish they'd hurry up and release it. I've been in the market for a pair of bluetooth headphones for months. I really liked the XM3's and they felt the best when I tried a load on in a shop, but there were way too many reports of bad call quality which put me off.

I've read (i.e. I've read an article which summarised a review which was extrapolated from a few terse words in an advert) that the XM4 has more mics and a focus on picking up voice.

The best thing about the MX3 ist the wind noise cancellation. Without this, the wind noise is even louder than without headphones. Why do every other NC headphones enhance wind noise? It’s a pain to listen to anything.
Wind NC is so awesome while riding a bike or e-Scooter. I just wished it would stay in Wind NC Mode after switching them off or that they would automatically turn on Wind NC mode when riding my e-Scooter.

I absolutely love the Sony XM headphones and I have Gen 1. They are were my go-to for international trips. Probably have put over 500 hours on them and they've held up great. Way better than the ear cup ripping apart on my Bose QC after a year or so. 3-4 years later and the battery lasts about 16 hours with noise cancelling on.

Definitely going to upgrade to the XM4.

A new listing (since removed) on Walmart's website, spotted on Thursday by Android Police, reveals pretty much all there is to know about Sony's upcoming WH-1000MX4 noise canceling headphones, including some notable new features and a $348 price tag.

...
here's also a new Adaptive Sound Control mode that lets users create custom profiles in the companion app that will adjust the noise canceling based on location,

This is already a feature (Android & iOS software) go both the WH/WF-1000XM3’s & has been since January 2020!

Nothing says quality like being sold at a walmart.

Said by a man whose description consists of:
- a device that overheats
- a device that has a problem with odd green tint
- a device that's been neglected for a couple of years
- a device that's prone to bending.

“Most people”? My XM2’s have logged a quarter million air miles and are still cosmetically and functionally perfect.
You misunderstand. I mean as in most people who have had the problem have not had a full refund.

so many people dont understand the connect to two devices statement.

Its not that the headphones are limited to just 2 devices. Its two active connections at the same time to two different devices.

IE phone and computer. So say you are WFH, connect the headhpones to the PC, and Phone. Someone calls you on the phone, answer the call right away, then a meeting comes on your PC, switch to that. Listen to a podcast through your phone, and a get a call on the laptop, just answer it.

Only Timmy knows how to cut corners and sell a boatload of product. eh?

Exactly. He just needs to be mentioned for the mixed in additional provocation to make it relate to Macrumors and to stir some hot air up.
Where else can we observe constant complaining without users actually taking their money where their mouth is and move on from a company they no longer like?

Riding in traffic with noise cancelling or any other headphones on is calling for an accident.

The ripping ear cup is one of Bose’s ways to make more money by selling the replacements. You can of course also find cheap imitations on Amazon for example and stick those on but the fit is slightly different afterwards.

It's not as if, any manufactured product is defect free.

Absolutely. This earcup thing is just special to Bose. In fairness they are soft so they will wear away but Bose manages this quicker than other brands.

Every product of course has its own set of weaknesses.

That’s exactly what I did before selling them on eBayand switching to Sony:)
