Hello Everyone,

I ordred a macbook air on amazon this past sunday during the Kindle promotional offer. Ended up paying 987.99 for the base 13" model with a 128gb hard drive. I haven't owned mac since leopard and am not sure how much space the OS takes up.

So....when I get my macbook in, how much does Lion take up on the hard drive? How much space will I have for my stuff?

Thanks,
Mike

I think you start with about 105 gigs free.

It feels small, and I was all worried. Then I just closed my eyes and installed everything I needed, and I'm at 60 gigs free. So thankfully I'm ok. This is not my main computer though. The big thing for me is I don't have parallels or bootcamp, so a bit more breathing room.

I'm eagerly awaiting a thunderbolt hdd!

I read you only loose 5 gigs to start. 23 seems like a lot

The formatted & partitioned size of the SSD works out to a little less than 128GB of usable space right from the get go. So between that and the space Lion takes up, 105GB of free space seems about right.
