That's crazy risc. But, I see exactly the same stuff with the wine where I work.

Which reseller do you work for?

VGL we recently merged with a company I'd never heard of Ipex but from what I've been told they are pretty big in the white box market. I only really work with HP/IBM x86 and x86-64 server hardware.

And yet you are a Mac-head. :p

I've never been a fan of Windows although I work with Windows 2000/2003 Server products at work. I kind of skipped Windows at home and went Amiga -> Linux / BSD -> OS X. OS X just felt like the natural progression from geeky Linux / BSD desktop OS.

Basically I go to work for money, at home I'll use what I want. We do sell Macs at work though so I can get wholesale pricing when it is time to shop! :)

Actually I believe the ACD and 2005FPW are the same monitor (different sizes, obviously). The LCD screens for both are made by the same company so the only difference is the packaging and the price (e.g. Apple's insane prices for LCD's).
The 20" ACD and the 2005FPW use the same panels. The 23" is totally different.

I don't know what the point above about HP is meant to be, but if you are suggesting they are crappy when ever I've dealt with them they have been nothing but professional, and imo they make the best x86 servers money can buy. Granted I have no clue about their consumer hardware or support.

If it makes you feel better, my experience with getting a Dell product replaced was pretty good. I called, was on the phone for about 30-40 minutes, and then they sent out the new computer that was actually a much better computer. As I remember it, it was supposed to be a 2.8 GHz Pentium 4, but they sent back 3.2 GHz. Plus it had an extra 512 MB RAM chip in it, so I was very pleased.

OK! So i got my new monitor in the mail and everything is great!!!! I also just bought an apple wireless keyboard and an icurve and a new desk!! I am so stoked i can't even contain myself!!!

Two weeks later, two boxes arrived. Two new monitors. One Dell-branded, once Viewsonic. Both asking for my old monitor. Called Dell... they made me pay return postage for their monitor which they sent by mistake. If I refused to send it back unless they paid for postage I would then be charged for the monitor. Viewsonic also made me pay for postage.

Ok this was a long time ago but if this happens again...

Dude, why not keep both new monitors?

Send your old monitor back to Viewsonic, buy a broken monitor off someone and send it to Dell? ;)

If Dell complains, just tell them to speak to Viewsonic. And vice-versa ...

If they carry on complaining, tell them a month later you want your broken monitor back....

I'm sure they'll have lost or thrown away your broken monitor at this point....

Then you can complain and say you want a replacement or refund for your missing broken monitor ...

Hours of harmless fun :)

Sucks about the shipment. It's a great monitor and you'll enjoy it a lot. I can't understand the WRX, either. They cost as much as a Vette, and don't perform as well. I blew a new one away about a month ago at a light. Still had dealer plates on. I didn't even think the guy wanted to go, but he nailed it right off the line and got the jump on me. :p

HP does a lot of embedded systems in the hospital I work at, and they make some very good hardware, and support it very well. On a more personal level I 've alway shad positive experiences with eir LaserJet printers (got a LaserJet4M at home, and it's a tank). Of course, hospital patient monitors are made to a very different standard than the cheap PC's you see at BJ's Wholesale Club.

To the OP: Bad luck but at least it won't cost more money to put right. I might feel more sympathy for you if I too could afford to get a big flat panel.... :(

Right now I'm limping along with a 5-year old ViewSonic 19" CRT.

Dell is a verygood monitor company, it was probably just when they shipped it they dropped t. The same thing happened with my iBook.
CORRECTION-I think it was USPS.

a wrx as much as a vette?!?! are you kiding me?? an STi is 32k and it is ridiculously fast, handles like a dream, is safe, and has the legendary subaru awd...a vette is more than that and it is heavier and can't handle NEARLY as good as wrx...its a big heavy drag car for old men...ride in an STi and it will change your life

I talked to a guy with an STI and he said he paid $40k for it. Mind you, you can't get a new c6 for much under $50k now with markups.

The Suburu handles better than a Vette? Pssh, right. :) The new Vettes are only 3100 pounds. That isn't too bad.

I have a 99 ram air Trans Am. It won't outhandle an STI or a Vette, but I sure blew away an STI at a light a few months back. For a car that "handles so well" the guy had to back off when we came up on the curve, which I took at 115 (and 2 lanes ;) )

I normally don't race anymore, but there was nobody there and he did think his car was somehow faster than mine, even though he spent more for it. Guess I showed him.
