Not sure about that. If not today, next week. There are a ton a rumors about the 14th. I really wanted it to be today, but reality sets in.
Well, they could release it any time today they want, but I don't think today was ever a realistic day for release. It's just too close to the GM release.
I'm, pretty sure that even though you can't buy it in store, they would be advertising it. In other words, when we find out that Apple staff are in overnight doing a redress of the store, that's likely to be when Lion is coming. Another reason too why it's likely to coincide with new hardware, e.g.
The New Macbook Air, comes with OSX Lion.

I think it is a good bet that at least one new piece of hardware shows up at the same day of Lion launch. Most likely the air. Seems like next week is the best rumor going for both, but we should not be surprised if they hold Lion till air (or whatever else they have in mind to refresh) is ready to launch or at least announce.

and I know someone will probably flame me for being disappointed because "it's not ready for release yet it's still buggy laggy blah blah blah"... but I want Lion now
Oh yes. Because Apple's customers are SO FORGIVING when something isn't right the first time around...and they have their entire reputation and marketing based around it being simple and just working.
It is 100% against Apple culture to push something out buggy just to get it out early. Think about what you are saying!
/edit: Example Final Cut Pro X. No, it's not really 'buggy' per se, but it is viewed as incomplete which got a lot of bad press for Apple. The last thing they want is a Walt Mossberg review that says Lion WILL be great after a patch or two...that's Redmond's game.

I hope it'll come out the 8th (a week after the GM was released). Makes sense aaaaaaaand I want Lion now.

well july 6 was evident too but didnt happen, july 14 is just another rumor ,theres nothing to back it up other than some "Soruce" saying its coming july 14.
but guess what, there was a "source" in san francisco saying it will come out today so .. u know what i mean..
