I have a local folder that contains sub folders, i manually rearrange some of them but growing make now hard to find a folder and can't find a way to sort them alphabetically

    it was like

    - works
    -- aaa
    -- bbb
    -- ccc
    -- ddd
    -- eee

    and i rearrange

    - works
    -- aaa
    -- ddd
    -- eee
    -- bbb
    -- ccc
any way to reset default alphabetic order?

Is this something you want to do once or are you moving these folders around frequently?

The fix is to delete the hidden .mboxCache.plist file in /Users/youraccount/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes and then restart Mail.
