Sorting by name in Photos

Photos 7.0 on Monterey 12.5.1 on M1 16" MBP. Trying to sort by name for a project, in one album. The Photos User Guide says one thing, but the actual options say another. Am I looking at this wrong? Because reasons, I need to get these photos in a certain order, and "by title" would be just fine. But.... see attached.

Yes, you should definitely have an option to Keep Sorted by Title. I'm assuming all of your albums aren't showing that option too. If you go to View > Metadata, are Titles checked for viewing? It shouldn't make a difference in the sort options, and I just tested that in mine, but I wonder if there's a problem with the titles in your album.

I have Titles checked for viewing but unless I've added a Title, it only shows the filename. But even so, I have the option to keep sorted by titles.

Added: for my albums containing some photos with filename only and some with titles, it sorts those without a title first and then alphabetically those with a title. Unfortunately I don't have any albums containing only filenames and no titles to test. Maybe if you add a title to a photo or two in that album, the sort options will change? Just a thought ....

It seems that the option to sort by title/filename is not available in Shared Folders only. I didn't mention that this is a shared folder. I could see the title in all other folders except the shared folders.

In a(nother) failed attempt to quickly assemble a digital boatload of old family pics into an easily negotiated and edited database, and then crowdsource relatives' knowledge to tag said pics, I'm succeeding in finding weaknesses in the various online photo albums. Looks like I won't be using Photos shared albums for that task. And it looks like this is going to require a custom website and a handful of plug-ins to get this job moving. WordPress, here I come. *sigh*
