Hi guys.

I got my iMac this evening and i'm transferring files from my Windows PC to my new Mac.

Okay, I have a question.

In Windows, you can arrange files/folders/what have you to be arranged with folders in one spot and files in the other.

In Mac OS, I have yet to figure out how to arrange folders into one section to themselves and files to themselves. I don't like scrolling, alphabetically, to find a folder that, for example, is in the F's (like a folder named Franks Folder alongside a file called Franks picture).

Is there a sort feature to seperate the folders from the files and maybe even other "sorting" features? thanks.

-Jacob.

Command + J while you have a Finder window open allows you to set global and local sorting.

You can also go View > Show View Options in the Menu Bar when your Finder Window is open.

It took me awhile to figure out what I liked too. I like sorting by kind. It keeps the files and folders apart but sorted alphabetically.
