    Guys, I need a help

I just bought a new Macbook pro 15 inch yesterday at the local store nyc, after I got home, I click About This mac=> More Info.=>Graphics/Displays, it says Display Type is LCD, it's supposed to be LED right?

so I chatted with apple online assist, they said something about "LED backlit support millions of colors" kinda sh*t that I dont understand and they suggest me ask specs.

so my question is : did they make a mistake for giving me a old mode of LCD screen? if that is the case Im def gonna exchange one, or did I misunderstand something?

Dang, I havent posted on here in forever, anyways...

Even if you get the LED Display, it will still display it as LCD. (My 17" High-res LED says LCD)

LCD is the active matrix part of the screen (Liquid Crystal display)
All laptop screens in the world are LCD by definition.

LED (light Emitting Diode) is the type of backlight that your Macbook Pro uses.
You would not see it it your system specs on leopard anyways.

The LEDs light up your LCD if you want a clearer explaination.

    So you re all good.

I know that all the 15'' are LED, why is it not standard on all the 17'' yet?

its more expensive to make the 17" screen.

LED is available on the 17" with the hi-def option.

So, out of curiosity, what lights up the LCD screens that are not LED (the non hi-res 17" MBP and the powerbooks) enquiring minds . . . :D

The display is still the flat-panel LCD-type (Liquid-crystal display)....while the backlight technology is LED-based (light-emitting diode) versus the old cathod fluorescent type (CCFL) or whatever

I'm sorry I just have to vent but apple owners are some of the dumbest people I have seen in my life.

Its still an LCD. That's like saying a sedan is not a car. A LED backlight is one type of LCD.
