I’m searching for an app to listen to sound files. But I need the app to show the file’s sound pattern, in order to locate the time when speech is initiated.
Not interested in an app with a lot of features just one that provides a good sound pattern.

I want an app with minimal features... i mostly need to be able to listen and see the sound wave form.

So why does GarageBand not fit the brief if all you want to see is a waveform scrolling by? You're not going to find something with literally zero learning curve that only does what you want

I don't think what you want exists. I'm still not fully understanding why GarageBand or Audacity won't suit your requirements but maybe you have reasons you're not able to fully explain.

Transmit 5 is one of the apps that i believe has fantastic & smart UI. Bravo to the team that created it.
If you use it you will find everything so easy and at the right spot! ;-)

I'm afraid the two types of products are not comparable. Transmit is a file manager for sending files across the internet. That is its primary, possibly even only, function. Whereas the type of product you want only exists AFAIK in the form of DAW software, which by necessity are going to have a variety of different functions, mostly concerned with recording and producing multitrack audio.

edit: hang on...how about opening it with QuickTime and choosing "Show Clip" from the view menu?

I’m not saying in any way that the two apps are comparable, I’m just saying, have a look at how "OSX like" Transmit is built/designed 😉
