iPod sound check

i am still having the same problem with differnt volume levels.
both the ipod and itunes have been set to 'on', but quite a few songs are either loud or soft.
i don't remember at what point i learned of this funtion during the loading of 3200 songs,, if that matters.
any advice??

Sound Check is dodgy. I turn it off but I also make sure all my songs are set to no Volume Adjustment (Get Info on a song from the File menu to check this). 🙂

What is the point of Sound Check? The music sounds muffled when you turn it on.
