Sound Devices Missing

Got no sound playing on macbook pro.
when i go to system preferences > sound, under output there are no devices & under input there are no devices found.
How do i recover this?

What year is the MBPro?
Is it still under warranty or AppleCare?
If so, take it to an Apple Store.

Could be some kind of software problem.
Have you tried PRAM and SMC resets?

SC AppleCare cover ran out & tried both PRAM & SMC resets?
