iPod touch sound effect settings say speaker????

In settings on touch in the sound effects it has

OFF
SPEAKER
HEADPHONES
BOTH

why does it say speaker?

even my 3rd gen 4row button iPod has a little speaker that makes sound effects when you press buttons.

It will have a small internal speaker to make alarms and beeps ect.
