I want to know if I route an aux audio source (e.g. keyboard) into the mini input on the side of a powerbook, can i send the audio out through the headphone output to listen while I play. That way, i cant use one output for all the computer audio and the external audio, but I dont know if that's possible (neither did the guys at the Apple store). Thanks!

Yeah its possible - thats how I listen to my iPod at work without using iTunes.

Go to - Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup, and open that. Now under audio devices, check the box marked Play Through, making sure the input source is Line In.

the naming might be different in Tiger/Panther as I'm using 10.2.8, but the theorys the same. You might notice some lag, this is called Latency, but it might be so small you dont notice.
