Sound over HDMI

Hi,

Can someone explain to me why when I plug my TV on my late 2013 iMac using HDMI (Display Port/Thunderbold adapter) I cannot get sound through the TV, but when I use the exact same iMac, cable and adapter, it works perfectly fine when I’m running UBUNTU?
It’s definitly NOT hardware related.

Did you switch audio output to that adapter (either in Audio MIDI Setup or Alt+Speaker on menu)?

Unfortunately my TV is not showing...
