Sound problem after ripping video from a .VOB file?

I've managed to copy a folder with .VOB files from my mini-DVD to my Macbook Pro's hard disk. I then took Handbrake and tried to convert the .VOB file to a MP4 file. The conversion seemed to go well but the sound skips like crazy! It's like the sound is on fast forward or it sounds like it's breaking up. 😱

How can I fix this? I can rerip the file but I am not sure what setting to use. I used the Apple TV preset but also tried it on my own and seemed to get the sound problem either way. 😕
