Sound Problems running Windows on VMWare

Ok so I've installed VMWare Fusion 2.0 and I'm running Windows XP Professional but it keeps telling me that there are no active mixer devices available. I have chaecked the settings and it says that the sound device is connected. What do I do as I really need this problem solved and your help would be very much appreciated.

I am also currently having this problem. System Devices show the hardware is detected but no sound mixer is available.

VMWare Tools Installed?

I wasn't able to get sound to work in VMWare yesterday despite everything appearing correct.

What I hadn't done was install VMWare Tools. Doing so fixed the issue.
