Yesterday, I noticed that whenever I play videos online that are NOT QuickTime, the sound does not play. I see the video, but I hear nothing. I can't find any reasons why this is happening. Everything used to work fine, so I don't why all of the sudden it's stopped working. If anyone knows why this is going on, please respond.

repair permissions
and restart

I did the repair permissions, but it still doesn't work. I don't get why only QuickTime's sound works, it's really odd.

If you have Garageband installed, try firing that up and then quitting it. This can sometimes help as it re-initialises CoreAudio.
