Who makes the soundcard that comes on a Powermac G5? Is it 5.1 capable, with the proper speakers of course?

AFAIK you can get 5.1 sound out of the Power Mac via the optical out.

Is there just 1 jack out the back of the G5. On my Macmini there is 1 jack out for headphones or 2.1 speakers.

No the G5 has normal analog out (3.5mm), headphone out (front), and TOSlink for optical.

There is the digital audio output on the Powermac. Apple website sells a few different 5.1 sound systems (that work via a headphone jack) or there is also a 7.1 PCI sound card that can be added.

Headphone jack? Do you mean TOSlink to miniTOS link (3.5mm) digital?

No it's made for headphones. I use my Klipsch 2.1 speakers instead. Same thing is on laptops.

Got some links? I've seen Klipsch 5.1 systems and the Logitech ones these all have 3.5 miniTOS link connectors but they do have to run over digital to get real 5.1.

edit:

I just checked Apples tech specs and I think you are confusing 3.5mm analog headphone jacks with the same size miniTOS digital connectors. The only Apple notebook with digital out is the 17" PowerBook like the iMac G5 this has a combined analog/digital out on the same 3.5mm connector.
