I bought my macbook in July and now I'm having problems mainly with just the sound output basically what it does is when I go to watch a youtube video or anything with audio I suppose, it won't play through the speakers built in to the macbook, when I put my headphones on it plays fine. Also the input to put the headphone in lights up red when something is playing, I've looked through out the System Preferences and what not but still nothing. Quite annoying tbh.

Thanks,
Alex.

Yours is a quite common problem and has plenty of coverage in the forums. The red light tells you the speaker circuit is jammed open (not working). The solution is to poke the audio jack from your headphones in and out of the audio port several times, which could fix it. Some people have used a dummy audio plug, even a toothpick.
