I can't decide whether to get the Space Black Stainless Steel or Space Grey Aluminium Apple Watch. I own a Space Grey iPhone 6, Space Grey iPad Mini 2 and maybe soon a Space Grey iPod Touch. Any opinions on which you think look best?

It's a $700 difference. I'm pretty sure you can decide.

Well the black SS is the best, without question.

But.. with that kind of price difference you can nearly buy 3 Space Grey models and give the other two to friends. I guarantee you will get a better payoff by doing that :D.

Plus, you'll have two people to send your doodles.

3 sports for the price of one space black, that makes it seem almost idiotic. Most of the cost is in the band itself no doubt and it does take 9 hours to make and is hand polished, which I think is impressive.

Screw it. I'm going all in and getting the Black SS with Apple Care+

I thought about it for a split second ... then I considered that the iPhone 6S might have some feature related to the watch that might be its selling point.
Like Siri for the 4S.

That made me consider to be the SS with a leather loop, because if you think about it really hard, the price difference is an iPhone.

... and we all get the same specs of the watch, minus material.

I don't want to hold you back, but I just wanted to share my reasoning.

No worries. I'll be doing what I do every fall and sell my current iPhone and breaking even to upgrade to the next gen of iPhone. I'll be doing the same with the :apple:Watch. I may not break even but Im thinking it'll sell the same as an iPad. I usually lose ~200 dollars when I sell the iPad and I have no problem with that. I put well over 200 dollars worth of use through the year I have that particular model. Hell I might even keep the Black SS as a collectible and just buy the next gen of :apple:Watch. The bracelet will still be usuable after all.

I'm just going to get both a Space Black SS and a SS with Milanese loop. I can't decide because I like both so much. Hello work bonus! :D

To the OP. It may not be of concern to you but don't forget the aluminum models use Ion-X glass and the stainless models use sapphire crystals.

I'm getting the space grey sport watch. Given that the guts are identical it's hard to justify 3x the price (for me personally).

That's a huge jump is price. Buy what you can afford, the SS is naturally much better looking in my opinion

Exactly. I really don't understand how you can compare the two $400 or $1,100 (assuming 42mm) is nearly triple the price! If it's even a consideration, then just go for the SS. That will always look/feel nicer than the aluminum, and you can also buy the black sport band on top of it. There is no way (as of yet) to buy the black link bracelet separately.

Side note: Both of these black products are more difficult to swap bands due to color differences. The leather loop and sport straps are the only ones that I think would look good.

If you are interested in my choice. I'll be getting the black sport. I think it's a little foolish to spend so much more on a product that has the exact same functionality when we have no idea how long it will last. If it's anything like iPhone/iPad gen 1, it'll be pretty long in the tooth within 2 years (and that's even assuming that the watch turns out to be a big success). If I want a dressier watch, I'll add the a leather loop band (black or dark blue) or perhaps a 3rd party band.

Although my heart says black stainless steel, space gray it will be. it looks sharp (have seen pictures with leather loop band - very classy) but more importantly, it is $200 LESS on the V1 (who knows, may even be V0.8) devices. I feel that just like the iPod, iPhone, and iPad before it, by version 2-3 it will be a device worth investing $1000 for the stainless steel prestige, and not before. Just my two cents (or is that 1.6 cents).
