I think the leather loop is the best fitting and most comfortable of the bands. It fits even better than the Milanese, because it lays flatter on the wrist with a smaller gap between the band and watch. That said, I think it is overpriced; it looks a little cheap, especially compared to the Milanese loop, yet it is the same price. IMO, it should be priced at $99, not $149, and be included by default with the $449 SS.

My only concern with the leather loop relates to durability/longevity. How well will the processed leather fare when subjected to sweat, water, etc. on a daily basis?

I'm just disappointed they don't make it for the 38 mm. I'm hoping I can find a third party that will make something similar for the 38mm.

I do like this combination. Unfortunately, it's not an option for me, as the loop band only comes for larger wrist sizes, and my wrists are pretty tiny. :(

is this true? The one i saw in the store said the size was M/L which I thought was weird because I assumed it would have Small Medium and large options.

I just feel like for the $150 entry price on these bands... I'd rather pony up to the SS model.

$550 for a Sport with the leather loop, or $1,099 for the Space Black with link bracelet.. I definitely wouldn't mind having a the link model but I don't think the extra $549 is worth it for me on the first gen.

The leather loop comes in 2 lengths, but only for the 42mm watches. See here.

$600 for the watch with the sport band

while it does look pretty nice i'm not going to spend the extra cash for it. the $450 i already spent on the sport is enough for something that's only going to last a year. the black sports band that comes on my sg is good enough for me. it's starting to get silly with all the extra stuff.

Hey, OP!

I can definitively promise you that this is not even close to being the best looking Apple Watch.

----------

Also I feel like a ton of people are viewing this only on the merits of price. As a result, many people are buying the cheapest one without necessarily realizing that it's also something that they are going to be stuck wearing on their wrists for 1-5 more years,

----------

Also, also,

People seem to be justifying their poor decision by saying "well, it's the first generation product so why would I spend so much on it??"

Because it's an Apple product, people! It will maintain its value extraordinarily well. So that "next time," you're only paying for a fraction of it with "new" money. And in the year or so that follows it is drastically better looking and doesn't look like a dorky toy on your wrist.

I got the sport model assuming there will be a gen2 in two years max. Imagine all the new smart watches that will be out in two years. If they waited more than 2 years, we would be super upset that our apple watch hasn't been updated yet.

I loved the look of the blue leather loop with the space grey so much I've ordered it today.

Only comes June but oh well.

… I would go book a try on appointment. I was going to take a chance on some serviceable third party band in the first wife's weeks (ordered 42 mm SS w pith white sport band), with the likely outcome that I would buy an apple band when everything else disappointed.

Prior to my try on, I adored the leather and just assumed that that was the one I would end up getting. After seeing it and trying it on in person I am far less than impressed. It feels low quality and plastic. I don't know what they screwed up but the leather has the same luxurious price point without the luxurious feel or experience. It was WILDLY disappointing.

Ironically, I thought the Milanese Loop looked ridiculous and chintzy online but in person it's probably my favorite one.

Important takeaway: go the the store and try on the different bands and watch faces. You,l be surprised.

...In your personal opinion, which is the polar opposite of a statement of absolute fact, so not a promise at all really. ;)

Unfortunately, money IS a consideration for most people on this planet, particularly regarding a highly optional gadget like the Watch. If you got cash coming out of your ears, cool, but most people don't.

Fortunately, higher price does not automatically equate better. Not when it comes to personal taste. Case in point, most of my watches have had rubber bands, and I'm totally fine with that. I prefer a comparatively "cheap" rubber band (50 friggin dollars!) over a really expensive $450 steel link band. Also, as a bonus, the rubber band doesn't pinch arm hairs... :p

Also, Tim Cook uses the cheapest band. If it's good for the CEO of the highest valued company on Earth, it's good enough for you and me too.

A totally valid consideration (and again, because most people aren't made of money.)

Because it's an Apple product, people! It will maintain its value extraordinarily well.
Theoretically. What's the current value of early model iPhones today? Not much; they can't even run the latest version of iOS. AW also has a lot more limited appeal, especially as it will only function with Apple phones.

No.

It just looks like you didn't pony up for SS.

I doubt Apple agrees, given they sell bands as accessories allowing the user to choose the bands that suit them. Just cause you bought a sports watch, does not mean you are stuck with a rubber band.

Though I personally think the space grey can pull off more bands than the aluminium version

It's a very nice combo.

In the lead up to pre-order day I had narrowed my preferences down to a Silver Sport with either a light or dark brown leather loop, or a SG Sport with a black leather loop.

My thinking...the Silver with a brown strap would echo a more traditional style and would show off the Apple Watch. The black on black would have high tech look but look like any other sports watch when the display was off.

I decided rather than broadcasting I had a new Apple Watch I wanted to fly under the radar and go with the stealthier all black watch.

Anyway, what's a traditional look for a computer strapped on one's wrist? A Dick Tracy styled watch?

Besides I have been buying black iPods/iPads/iPhones since I felt the black makes the device recede and the display become more prominent. With a black border the device fades more into the background, a white border tends to frame the information.

I pre-ordered the SG Sport with black leather loop. A try-on visit, fortunately, confirmed that was the combination I would like best.

It looks ok, but for the significant extra cost of the strap I don't think it looks that different to the sport strap. I think the contrast of the black leather against the silver stainless steel was what made it 'fashionable', without that it is just black and I don't think worth the extra strap cost. All personal opinion of course.

I think all these threads on xx with xx band look the best/worst are the absolute worst. Enough. Watches at their core have always been a fashion accessory which entirely makes it a personal preference. Get what feels right for you. Anything else is just noise.

I guess if someday got an :apple: car we can fill the forum arguing over what color is good while the rest suck because some people on the internet said so.
