Decided to go with Space Gray. It looks classier. It has that stealthy look and very noticeable. I also have an Apple Magic Mouse which is also black. So it matches up nicely.

I feel like you can see the dirt and dust around the silver very well. It’s very noticeable. Especially around the MagSafe area. It’s hard to remove them.

However both of the Mac’s are nice! Congrats y’all!
Good point — and most monitors are probably a darker color as well. Almost like ordering an Apple Watch — we should consider the accessories we already have.

Have owned space grey and agree with others that it wears faster than silver. Around the ports the coating wears off and around palm rests as well. Went with silver this time around, and plus it matches the PRo Display XDR that i may plan to get in the future.

My private Mac is silver and the one from work is space grey. I have them both sitting here next to each other on the table. Can't decide which one is better. As my work laptop is always space grey I got the silver one. Ordered the 16 Inch MacBook Pro with M1 Pro, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD in silver

I always go for the Space Grey, but with the Air I opted for the Rose Gold to be different! My 16" was a silver.. So I'm going back home with the Space Grey this time around!

I was so busy agonising over chip specs that I didn't even notice which colour I'd bought until later. Seems I have space grey, which is nice. Would be equally happy with either tbf.
The same thing happened to me. I'd wanted silver, but when we ordered, I wanted to walk my wife through all the options, and of course missed the color right at the beginning. Still space gray is fine, they both look good.

It’s very easy to miss tbf to us. Would be better if they made it a more explicit option in line with the chip and ram selections.

EDIT: I ended up changing to silver. I definitely liked it more in person particularly on the 14”.

After seeing the picture of Tim Cook with the new silver MBP, I think I’m more convinced of my space gray selection. The contrast between the silver body and black keyboard seems better in the renderings (and studio pictures featuring just the laptop) where it takes on an arctic starlight-like vibe. In more “real world” lighting, it still looks clean but relatively dull, to my eye, but I’ll of course reserve judgment until I see them in person.

I cancelled my original SG order for the 8/14/32GB/1TB as I have decided to get the 10/16 and went silver this time. I think more because it reminds me of my first Macbook Pros back around 2008.

What picture was that?

Has the space gray color changed over the years? The silver looks the same, but to my eye, it seems darker in the newer models. I ended up getting space gray to distinguish it from my older silver one.

I was really surprised by how dark the space grey display models looked in the Apple Store today.

My local store has plenty of the base models in stock so I was able to switch to the Space Gray. I'm happy with the change, after having use only silver notebooks since the 2008 Unibody MacBooks. Biggest takeaways so far: aluminum border around the screen is less noticeable and the black keyboard doesn't scream at you. We'll see how well it holds up in the long run...

Silver is really pretty but I'm in love with my Space Gray 14". I'm old enough to have lusted after the TiBook G4 while I had only a white iBook G3. The TiBook had a weird warmish gray color to the finish. Space Gray is far from that, but the "off-silver" color evokes that finish to me. Along with the flat-edge lid, it feels like I have the TiBook I always wanted, but from the future.

The silver is pretty and matches the MagSafe connector, but I prefer the Space Gray. My last 2 MacBooks have been Space Gray and I have had no problem with stains, fading, silver showing through etc. I think it looks better with the new black keyboard and more professional. I also like that the darker color doesn't distract as much from the screen. I love my new 16" MacBook Pro that I've had since launch.

Is the logo on both colours the same this time around?
From what I could tell at my local Apple store after viewing both from various angles, the logo on the silver MBP seemed noticeably darker. It seemed more like a glossy black, whereas the logo on the space gray seemed black or gray depending on the angle.

After only (spending far too long) looking at pictures online, I was still undecided. This visit made me more excited about the silver as I loved the contrast between the logo/keyboard and body in person. However, I could definitely see some preferring the lighter Apple logo on the space gray, which blends in more and is even stealthy from certain angles.
