i don't put skins but i have used keyboard covers to avoidy "shiney-keys" syndrome. nice to hand them off or sell them looking brand new

seems weird to care more about the experience of the person after than yours to make an extra what – $25 on resale or something?

also: you can have the keyboard cleaned before selling

hmm how do you clean it so the keys arent shiney? couldn't seem to do it on my original mba 11" thus i moved on to covers for subsequent laptops. a cover doesn't hurt my ability to type or worsen my experience but i acknowledge it may for others

as for resale, i wouldn't even consider buying a laptop who's keyboard keys are shiney and worn so i assume the same for others. in which case it's a big difference, not $25

I used to be one of those weirdos that put screen protectors and cases on all of my electronics but as I grew I kind of got over it and these days I generally just let things exists as is, with the exception of a case for my phone which has to more with grip than protection.

I was seriously considering SlickWraps natural leather wrap for the 13" since they had a 50% sale, but ended up not purchasing it. I don't think I want to cover up the Space Gray finish. We'll see once I get it.

15" Space Gray for Christmas and I haven't noticed any fingerprints yet - I had a rMBP 15" prior and found that fingerprints weren't too bad on that. Adore the space gray colour on this laptop though!

You have to do it frequently. If you already have weeks of oil built up it's going to be difficult to remove. I clean my keyboard with those wipes from Costco at least every other day. My keyboards have always remained clean and shine free.

Unless your hands are prone to sweating or being greasy you won't get any finger prints on the Space Grey MBP. I've had mine since Nov. 24th and haven't had scratching or finger print issues--I think it's just a matter of being a little cleanly haha.

No problems with my Space Grey MBP here. I like the understated appearance, and haven't had any problems with scratches despite always wearing a stainless steel watch. Also haven't had any problems with fingerprints/smudges despite having pretty sweaty hands.

got it. i'm lazy and will stick with the cover

i love the way it looks scratched. i have a space grey iphone for a couple years and the wear makes it look so badass

as for the laptop, i'm a very clumsy guy and i've been on this thing all day every day for a month ( busy time at work) and it doesn't even have a tiny ding on it yet. i'm surprised – maybe they've improved their anodizing technique

obviously aesthetics are personal, but i far prefer the grey over the silver, because it gets out of the way. it kinda 'disappears' when you're looking at the screen

I feel the same about space gray "getting out of the way" and that's the color I'm thinking of getting. But I wonder, would the space gray get tiring after a while? Perhaps silver was the standard color for so long because it's easier to live with day in day out... Anyone care to share their thoughts?

I bought a 15" SG, it's a nice looking laptop. But after a month, though I still think it's a great colour, I would rather have bought the silver.
It's not because of scratches or fingerprints, it just seems to be that 'silver' is the right colour, it feels right!
At the end of the day, though expensive, it's a great laptop in either colour.

This whole color debate is strange to me. Being Apple aficionados, we've all seen all kinds of crazy colors, including this one, on something. At this point, I don't give colors much thought aside from personal preference, and my preferences change over time. I got SG because it's a cool color we've not seen on a MBP before. It'll be dime a dozen soon enough, and I'll still like it. Silver is the most friggin common MBP out there for almost a decade. It still looks good. I think the glowy Apple is fugly, but that's just me. Others love it. The points about scratches and fingerprints? Maybe if you leave your keys in your MBP case or if you have particularly greasy fingers. My old silver MBP had all kinds of stains on it. They just wiped off. Same situation here. It's just a color and there aren't really benefits to one over the other. Again, unless you are regularly eating pizza while handling your MBP.

I should add, Jet Black iphone? Makes sense that it gets more scratches. Dark paint on a car? Yes, you have to wash it with care or you get swirls. Silver vs. SG aluminum? Only reasonable care needed.

I love the Spae Grey MacBook Pro. It is awesome. It just collects fingerprints easier. I honestly think it looks prettier and better. I prefer this color over Silver. Anyway, No scratches on mine!

I cancelled my order before it shipped and got the silver. Glad I did. Still like the silver to much. Got mine this week and it's perfect (no scratches, etc.).

I got silver, then borrowed a space grey. I went back to silver. The fake speaker grills on the grey looked ugly/unfinished inside in certain lighting.

Apple could have chosen any color for the aluminum powerbook g4s anodization of old and they chose silver. I still think it's the nicest of the two.

In the crazy chance that someone is actually using these forum discussion to decide on their macbookPro color, I would like to note that neither can really be seen around the screen. This is the silver and spacegrey side-by-side:

I liked the space grey at first because it has a more subtle industrial look to it but ultimately choose to go with silver because it shows scratches and fingerprints less. I also choose it because it looks more icon and classic.

Had my space grey mbp for a few weeks now. Don't really see much issue with fingerprints or scratches. Another thing I appreciate about the colour is how it changes dramatically under different lighting conditions. Under certain lighting, it actually looks very similar to the silver one. Pretty cool

I just got my Space Gray 13" and am loving the color. I wouldn't worry too much about fingerprints/scratches. Also like bxsonic mentioned, the gray changes color under certain lights giving a pretty cool effect.

Now the touch bar on the other hand..... I'm not so sure about it haha

Sorry, I think they meant that when you're looking at the screen, the space grey body is less noticeable, which you can see out of the corner of your eye, providing more focus. That is how I interpreted it, and I agree. Not the tiny bit around the screen, although I also think that is less noticeable (not in those photos as it's against a white background but in real life).
