Spaces in vertical spaces, is there a way?

Hey there. I'm a heavy user of Spaces, usually two to the left and two to the right 24/7. I wonder if there's a way to use Spaces using "up and down" spaces as well? A third-party app, maybe? It would be a blast, wouldn't it?

Back before lion this was how the system natively worked. You set up your spaces in a grid. I liked that a lot. Don’t know of a way to achieve it in modern macOS but it’s how it works on snow leopard

That's funny, I didn't like Spaces back in the day. Didn't remember it worked like a grid, wow, it should have been a blast to work in that way. I'd love it. How odd to remove such a feature.

They prioritized full-screen apps and dynamic app "spaces" over a static arrangement of spaces that also allowed grids. They should have thought a bit longer about how to keep the possibility of a grid with full-screen apps. I also miss the 2D layout of spaces.
