spaces shortcuts do not work

Can someone help me with this?

In spaces preferences, the options under "to switch between spaces" and "to switch directly to a space" do not seem to do anything when I configure them.

I have quicksilver installed but the keyboard shortcuts used do not interfere with the spaces shortcuts. Spaces does work normally, other than the shortcuts.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks
