Spam in my inbox addressed to a non existent email address?

I've been getting SPAM in my iCloud account quite regularly over the past few weeks but today was the first time I happen to notice that the SPAM email I received today is addressed to a numerical email address (See screenshot - take not of From/To in upper left corner).

How can an email addressed to an inbox not associated with my account end up in my inbox?
