Spark 2.0 Launches for Mac and iOS With Support for Team Email

Readdle, the company behind the popular Spark email client for Mac and iOS, today announced the launch of Spark 2.0, a free update to the existing line of Spark apps.

Spark 2.0 continues to offer the same feature set for individual users, but it introduces a new collaborative email experience for teams.

Teams can use Spark 2.0 to discuss email using private in-line conversations, share emails through email threads rather than forwarding, collaborate on emails, and create links to email threads that can be shared in various ways with security settings to control who can view it.

In Spark 2.0 for Mac, there's a full-featured Calendar available to Spark for teams users, and on iOS, there are third-party integrations for Reminders, 2Do, Omnifocus, Things, Wunderlist, Todoist, Asana, Trello, Bear, and Files.

Spark is going to continue to be free for all individual users and core team functionality will be available at no cost, but a fee will be charged for teams who want upgraded features.

A premium Spark subscription for teams is priced at $7.99 per month per user, a fee that includes additional storage for comments and file sharing (5GB is available free), 3 or more collaborators for composing an email, premium customer support, advanced link sharing options, and access to admin settings and controls for the team.

Good, but these things are redundant unless you convince a whole team to migrate. I'd rather Spark focus on becoming a flawless email app, because they're so very close…

• Email templates (still can't believe this is missing?)
• Contact avatars
• Read receipts
• Natural scrolling direction in Calendar
• Some appearance options and customisable notification sounds
• Performance improvements (feels like a web app at times)

I can't add my IMAP account. It keeps giving me an error. Also, I can't figure out how to add Office 365 accounts. Anyone have any suggestions?

Wouldn’t feel comfortable handing my email account credentials over to them to store everything on their server for a product they are providing for ‘free’.

Also, last time I checked, their privacy policy included notes about sending ‘statistical data’ to companies like Google and Facebook.

I’ll pass, but nice to see they actually have a business model that charges for teams now, that’s something.

You need an application specific password, if you do not have one, from your apple id account.

Spark iOS will not allow notifications from Gmail or enable send later feature “check your firewall “. After that it froze on the start screen and crashed. It was synced with iCloud. The Mac version seems to work okay.

Overall, the new update looks good. But they changed a lot of things and many existing features, such as customizing the swipe gestures, are not discoverable.

I thought so too! At least in my opinion it really should be! I’m surprised it’s free. Most of Readdle’s software isn’t. Bu I’m now they have the paid option, bu and still, I don’t know how many people are going for that.
