My harddrive recently died. I was able to copy everything but cannot figure out how to access the sparsebundle where most of my data lies. I can access the rest of my files on my new harddrive. I imagine the problem is that I used filevault with this account.

    The error I receive is:

    Operation not supported on socket

    Permissions seem to be okay.

Any chance I can access my old files?

Can you tell me at what path you found that sparsebundle on your hd? If it's filefault you should be promted for a password.

But your message seems like a broken sparsebundle...
