i should have led with not wanting to spend 500+I don’t have one yet but I believe the Sonos Sub and the newly launched Sonos Sub Mini both have AirPlay2 support which will thusly get them integrated into HomeKit. These are the ones I plan on looking into once I begin my home theater renovation, unless something new comes up till then.
Gotchya Gotchya. There’s always this Belkin device (see below). If you have a receiver or amp that the sub and speakers will connect to, it will essentially turn the system into AirPlay2 compatible which will get them in HomeKit. I’ve heard mixed results about it. I have one that I haven’t tried yet so can’t comment on the reliability and functionality. An AppleTV or an old AirPort Express will do the same. I have a bunch of dumb outdoor speakers by my pool with a dumb amp that’s connected to an AppleTV and a HomeKit smart plug. I have them set up to scenes and automations. Pretty cool actually… and I think I’ve wandered away from the main point of this thread lol. Anyway, my point is, you can essentially use whatever you want as long as you connect them to an AirPlay2 compatible controller. Hope this helps.i should have led with not wanting to spend 500+
This is an interesting idea but will it actually work properly? The SONOS Sub is meant to be part of a SONOS home theatre/music system. Just selecting it as an AirPlay speaker from your iPhone would send the entire music program to to sub, not just the low frequencies.
