Hmmm. Mine is low, but not to the point I cannot hear it at all with background noise. It is fairly difficult though and seems to need a lot of quiet. Maybe I'll go to the Apple Store sometime next week and compare.

What did you use to test the speaker? You mentioned phone calls, but if you played music through the watch speakers was that inaudible as well?

No no, not at all. I was saying 'I don't expect to blast music on it' implying 'I know the speaker is small.' I know the watch doesn't allow anything through the speaker aside from notification sounds and phone calls. (Heck, not even FaceTime audio!)

Volume also could be louder. Not really that audible making phone call, even at max setting, for example when driving in a car.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues too. How low is it? In a quiet room does it require you to bring it to your ear?

They said as soon as they receive mine at the processing center where it'll be put aside for the engineering team. I'd say 1-2 weeks tops?

Like I said earlier, I have this psychic pain between my shoulder blades that tells me the first batch has real issues, probably as it was rushed to be assembled for 4/24 and I should just re-order one for July that will be built this summer. By then, most issues will hopefully be addressed.

Yes, I have to raise the watch to my ear in order to hear a caller.

That seems like a long time to be without my watch, considering all the other fountains work well. I might wait until the Genius Bar has replacement stock.

So far it seems like most issues are software related and fixable in new version releases.

Mine is not loud either, and I always have to tell my party "hold on I'm switching to my iPhone"- thing is notifications are pretty damn loud! So I don't think it's a defect because how are notifications coming out of the same speaker loud?

Ok. I haven't actually tried music. I did receive a video via Messages and that sound played through the Apple Watch though.

I was just trying to see what you used to test the speakers at the Apple Store.

Just a thought (I haven't got my watch yet, it's due to arrive on Tuesday) but does it make a difference if you turn the volume up or down on the phone itself.

Nope. Yet when you place a call, at least on mine, the ringing tone before the other person picks up comes out of your iPhone and not the watch. Never understood why.

Well what the AppleCare tech told me at first is that some people have issues with the volume being stuck on low, probably due to a software glitch, even when it displays 'high' on the slider bar that pops up on screen during the call. They said that a full reset of the watch fixed some units. Didn't work on mine though.
