spec chase issues with L shaped charger

hello,
I have early 2008 macbook pro 15'' 2.6 gh model
and applecare just upgraded my charger to the new L shaped one, but now I am having issues when trying to charge my macbook with my spec case one. Anyone ever run into this problem?

The issue with the L-shaped charging head and cases of any kind are fairly well documented. I can't recall if Speck changed their design to allow for the new charger.

i am thinking about trimming the case to fit correctly

I have the 2010 MBP with L Shape adapter. I also have a Spec case, no issues, so they must have changed a bit.
