I am looking for something like they have on Windows were you can open something and it shows the commands for special symbols. I wish the macOS had something like this, maybe it does 🤷‍♂️. On my iPhone I have gotten used to holding down a key for these special symbols. I know macOS has them I use them but I have to look up how to add them when needed. Since My iPhone always sits in a stand beside the Keyboard is there an app that shows these commands. I know it is "command=>shift=> "whatever". The "Whatever" is what I need.

On macOS, you also hold down a key to get the variants of that key. è, é, ê, ë, et al all come from holding down "e" and then selecting the character you want.

Thanks that is like the iPhone, one less issue. I notice that when I hold down the command=>shift=> I get other symbols when I randomly hit a key, many of them I don't know what they are used for. Still learning Appleology.

I think the only hidden one that you really need to know about is Shift + Option + K

Open System Settings > Keyboard. Under "Text Input," "Input Sources" click on the Edit button. Then turn on "Show input menu in menubar".

Once you have this in your menu bar, you can show the keyboard viewer any time you want to see a live preview of all of the available symbols.
