Specific Audio Conversion via Folder Actions?

Hi,
As a music artist I have a hardware sampler at home wich only reads 16bit Wave files. Having a very big database of sounds it takes quite some time to load every 24bit sound in to an audio editor and convert it to 16bit.

I wondered if it is possible to convert 24bit wave files to 16bit via Folder Actions? And where I could find an AppleScript to get it working?
Or is there an application out there where you can convert a whole lot of 24bit audio files to 16bit at once.
