I'm looking for (preferably freeware of some kind) an app that lets me back up to an external HD. If I created a new file in word and placed that file in a specific would i be able to set that file to up date in a specific location on my external - basically something other than mirroring.

I just want to back up all files in say 'my pictures' folder automatically - when i put a new image in it i want it to copy it to the external.

anyone know of one.

I use SilverKeeper all the time to backup files to an external hard-drive and sync my files/settings between my iMac and iBook. It doesn't do this automatically, although there's a scheduling function.

I'd imagine an application constantly running and copying files in the background would slow your machine down a fair bit though right?

i presume that copies everything across?

i was thinking it would only come into action if i copied to that file
