I am about to get my first Iphone and am researching cases. I am looking for something that has durability and will protect from a fall as I tend to fall due to a disability. easy or textured grip, and maybe some color. I've narrowed it down to three cases but need opinions from people that have used them.
two are speck one isn't.
they are
1. speck pixel skin
2. speck candy shell
3. the solo fx case

any info is greatly appreciated
Misty

I had the candyshell... it protects well, but was a bit bulky imo. The screen protector on it also left lots of smudges.

I replaced it with the iSkin Solo, and find it much better. not quite as much protection (still seems good) much sleaker, and a better grip. The screen protector smudges less too.

the solo is great but will not protect you like the candyshell.

the pixelskin is a regular silicone case so it catch dirt and not slide smooth to the pocket.

the candyshells are little bulky and the not-so-hard plastic outside will show hairline scratches after few days, but they awesome looking and give you a huge drop protection, very smooth feeling and the take on and off isn't too hard.
i got plenty of cases but i'm always return to the candyshells.

yes,
but there are issues with every case.

the rebel has a saggy bottom, sides get loose after awhile, the "silicone" (polymer) scratches by the plastic part.
but anyway its protect the phone very well and looks nice.

speck candyshell for example,
the bottom strip will be cracked if you'll bend it too much and the taking on and off is by force (the rebel is like dressing, no need any force).

there is no perfect case, you just need to know all the drawbacks and choose what is the best for you.

^^^^^ good advice. There really isn't a perfect case.

For example, I decided to go with the iFrogz Luxe. I should receive it in the next couple of days. If I don't like that, I'm going to try the SwitchEasy Capsule Neo.

From what I have read, I believe that the Otterbox provides the best protection.

Don't get an Incase Slider, it'll scratch your phone even if you've put it on many times before. Get a Speck Candyshell (And order online using product code: buddy25 @ speckproducts.com) for 25% off!

does the code expire it'll be a few months before I have my phone? also are the shell's dust magnets? with my disability it would be very difficult to remove the phone very often?

My boyfriend uses the Speck PixelSkin when he's at work, and he absolutely loves it. He works in a warehouse type of environment, walking around all day on hard floor and is constantly checking his iPhone. He loves the case protection and the "tire tread" grip.

On the other hand, I just recently got an iSkin Solo for my iPhone, and when I showed him my case, he's like, "That nice. But I like my PixelSkin better because it's thicker and grippier." :)

I have a desk job where I'm sitting at my computer most of the day and dropping my phone would most probably land on carpet. I prefer a thinner case profile while still having some protection.

Let me know if you'd like me to post a side-by-side photo of my phone and my boyfriend's so you can see the difference!

that would be wonderful usually if I fall its on carpet but sometimes its tile
right now I am leaning toward the pixelskin or shell but the solo Fx looks great and appears to have a texture as does the rebel which is probably as important to me because I need something I can grip while using a walker.

bottom line I need to have a cover that can withstand dropping has a good grip does not attract a lot of dust as removing often to clean would be very hard. And sadly I have no clue where to start

Sorta unrelated, but the more I look at the white/cranberry Candy Shell case, the more I kinda dig it. Anybody know offhand if they carry that color in the Apple stores? (Yes, I know I can just call them and ask, but I thought I'd ask here first 'cause I know somebody mentioned buying one there, in person.)

Thanks!

they do. i bought one yesterday. i love it so far. :D

Turns out neither of the Apple stores in my area had them (I doubt one carried them in the first place, and the big one 5 mins from my house may just have been out temporarily), which turned out to be a blessing in disguise...I just found the white/cranberry case for $24.99 with free shipping courtesy of Amazon! Well, courtesy of DataVision via Amazon. Either way, I can't wait to get it! :D

I just really like the idea of the combination of silicone for cushioning with the hard outer case to protect against scratches and for its "feel." I have an Incase Slider and I love the slick, smooth texture in my hand, but I worry about scratching and cushioning against drops. I'm not particularly clumsy or anything, but a lot of my friends are drunken idiots and I'm afraid of the possibilities should any of them get hold of my phone. :p
