Yeah you are right. I know it would be a hassle for me to switch the position and I'd probably do it about twice a day but I have an idea of a better design using a hinge that would also lock the screen in place for touch use.
That's a good point I never thought about overhead lighting--but I don't have any trouble with my laptop even though the screen is tilted back at an angle.
People do paperwork for many hours by looking at a worse angle (looking at a flat table) and don't complain too much. Plus it is the same angle as a keyboard so it is good for the wrists, the fingers and the hands. It is also at a good angle for drawing on--most drawing boards are angled.
Well my next design will allow either one or the other (but not both). I think I will still have the cords out of the side though. The more I think about my next design the more I think of it having laptop-like features.
Yes these designs took me hours and hours of work considering I haven't had much experience with engineering and Solidworks. If people on this forum liked wedges and focused on the strengths of my design (instead of their disliking of wedges) then I probably would be getting a lot better feedback. 😉
Wow--I like Isaiah but I haven't come across that passage yet. That's a neat find but I certainly wouldn't want a golden wedge idol of another religion. 🙂
You might want to take a look at your poll numbers.
I personally am opposed to it having laptop components because it is a desktop computer. It certainly could be as flat as a laptop (or as flat as the current iMac let's say since that would be better for my design anyway) and held up at an angle by two glass beams where papers could be (saving desk space). I'll try this with my next design anyway. This will take my design away from having a wedge form.
Why is he asking for feedback? There's only been one idea, and almost no response to the feedback.
